Acorn School of Complementary Therapy

The Acorn School of Complementary Therapy started in the spring of 2015, after hearing clients tell us of their experiences of other centres where chronic illness is a contraindication. We treat people with cancer and life limiting conditions or illness that affects daily living. By helping relive symptoms we can help people though their journeys. So we thought if we can help teach other therapists not to be afraid of working with people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour and also chronic illnesses, that would be a great experience for all involved.

We started teaching workshops that do not accredit people to carry out treatments but simply empower them to be able to treat themselves, then other workshops that people asked for like the feet workshop and skin care workshops became popular so now we are going ahead with accreditation which means we can teach subjects like Aromatherapy.

Our courses will be run at venues out in the community when they are needed and the smaller ones at run at the centre.

The Principal of the school is Helen and lead teacher is Kim Fenwick, both are senior therapists and have many years of experience in therapies. Kim has over 30 years nursing which is such an asset to the school. We also will be getting outside tutors to help us develop the school.

We are undergoing the whole process of being accredited to become a school which includes us going through more training ourselves too which enables us to be able to deliver accredited courses for you.

From complete beginners looking learn about therapies including aromatherapy, or to existing therapists needing to gain CPD points or to learn new skills, we can cater for all!

We will have diploma courses in Aromatherapy for existing therapists and also be adding many courses that will be fully insurable and recognised by the professional bodies.

Your training and experience will be very important to us as our reputation for the treatments we give is so high we feel confident that our tutors can deliver excellent training. Our passion for therapies will shine through on your courses.

Word is spreading quickly, the clients and our fellow therapists are supporting us in what we are trying to achieve.

The school will prove that our tutors and students are passionate and caring about what they believe in which is customer care and safety. We are friendly and supportive tutors and specialists in the field we teach in.

You can expect a certificate of attendance for our workshops and accredited certificates for courses that are ITEC courses. Our training class numbers are small to ensure individual and personal attention in some all of our workshops.

Please see our training courses page for ITEC information.

We are with governing bodies for example (IFPA and FHT) this ensures you that we are current and up to date with our therapies.

Rest assured we follow a strict code of conduct and work ethically in our own practice so we follow these guidelines.
