Elaine Sturdy
My name is Elaine and I'm a qualified counsellor and registered member of the BACP. I have worked for nine years as a bereavement counsellor. For the last six years I have been working in adult mental health providing therapy for adults referred by their GP & other medical professionals. I work with a range of issues including depression, stress and anxiety, anger management, domestic violence and relationship issues.
I have also worked as a secondary school counsellor with pupils with complex needs. This included working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and within child protection policy guidelines.
I have a passion for understanding human nature and believe it is everyone's right, if they so wish, to experience happiness and well-being in their lives.
I work integratively which means working with different therapies that can be applied to different situations. Each person needs to be considered as a whole and counselling techniques must be tailored to their individual needs and personal circumstances.
There are many ways in which human behaviour can be explored and understood - there is no single way.
Each approach I use offers explanation and insight into a person's behaviour.
During our time working together you will develop understanding and self-awareness about yourself as a person, your issues and the choices you have in your life.
As your counsellor I will offer you a confidential and encouraging environment where I will be committed to supporting you work through your thoughts, feelings and personal difficulties.
It is said that when we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.
I look forward to working with you.
