Patricia Moh (MBACP)

Patricia and is an CBT Therapist and Psychodynamic Counsellor

Counselling/Therapy can help you get better self-awareness and a deeper understanding of yourself and others. It can also help improve your self-esteem which is in turn reflected in your personal relationships and this will help you to begin to feel better about yourself and who you are.

I offer individual therapy/counselling which can be time limited and solution focused or long term/open ended. I am trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Counselling. However, I am able to integrate these two models of therapy to suit my client’s needs.

I have worked with a wide range of clients who have presented with panic attacks, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, phobias and general low mood.

How I work

CBT

The aim of CBT is to find practical solutions to present-day problems. I work collaboratively with the client to look at thoughts, feelings and behaviours and understand how unrealistic or unhelpful they are and what negative effects they have. Once we are able to identify the core thoughts we will work together to change them.

Psychodynamic Counselling

The aim of Psychodynamic counselling is to help the client attain understanding and insight into the reasons for their problems or relational difficulties. The belief is that our sense of personality and sense of self is developed in early experiences of relationships, (primarily our parents). We learn who we are in relation to others from these early relationships so if our experiences in childhood were difficult or traumatic this can cause us to develop a distorted view of ourselves which in turn can affect how we relate to others in adulthood

The focus of our sessions will be led by the client and can be open ended or time limited and solution focused and I support the client to make links from past experiences to present ways of feeling and relating to others. I have worked with clients for 12 sessions and some for a lengthier period of time.

As a registered member of the BACP I am fully committed to working ethically within their code of ethics and guidelines.
